Singer’s art career began after graduating from the Beaux-Arts in the 90s.
Among all the mediums he uses, his favorite is frames. Yes, picture frames. His geometrical pieces often extend outside the frames. Rather than the frame itself, Singer focuses on the inside, outside, and its extensions.

Singer challenges the traditional boundaries of a canvas. It’s already unusual to make frames, but the artist elevates them by adding his personal touch.
As a designer, he makes many sketches before coming to a conclusion. He uses it as the basis for his frame, each one like an industrial drawing. The process is long but essential. He does all aspects of frame creation, including varnishing, polishing, etc, and each step varies to the need of each frame. This makes every piece unique.
“In my practice, I question the idea of the off-screen by creating a form usually cut off by the edges of the frame or canvas format, which I then extend beyond” (https://www.artmajeur.com/martin-singer/en).
