When Ghada Chamma draws, she can’t possibly be any more relaxed.

Since 2008, Chamma has done countless exhibitions including the Yosr Ben Ammar Gallery, Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice, The Pratt Institute in New-York, etc. Just a year later, she earned a degree in visual arts from the Higher Institute of Fine Arts of Tunis.
Chamma’s drawings are made of very small motifs and each detail is so meticulously drawn that it might be impossible to recreate.

We might expect her to be extremely concentrated while she works, but actually, her artistic process is quite interesting.
She starts off with meditation and self reflection. This allows her to connect with the environment, and as she starts inking the paper, her movement follows her slow rhythmic breathing.
Feeling relaxed is essential for Chamma, and she needs to feel the energy around her to project that onto the paper. This is a way for her to explore her feelings and sensations felt throughout the day.
“I sit down in front of my white canvas for a poetic journey and I enjoy the quiet where my spirit sounds in a silent horizon. Here I begin to feel these dynamic impressions in me which gradually acquire substance” (link).
She’s mainly inspired by our microscopic world made of intracellular cells and microorganisms. To her, these tiny molecules reignite her forgotten dreams and feelings of joy.
